# CryptoPrevent v23.5.5.0 just released!

May 3, 2023

v23.5.3.0 Fixed an issue sending email with Office 365 SMTP authentication failing, which can be due to an external firewall. Added support for incorrect configurations with Office 365 in particular, as well as any email provider, where CryptoPrevent will auto-correct settings on failure and retry sending email several times with different or suggested settings depending on the specific failure. Removed “Test Protection” button on Windows 11 22H2 (and future versions).

## CryptoPrevent v21.8.17 brings Google account support with OAuth2 for email alerts!

Aug 18, 2021

That may not make sense to many, so let me break that down. CryptoPrevent optionally sends email alerts, but you have to configure your own email account in CryptoPrevent so it can do this. Previously, this meant configuring your email account’s SMTP server and putting in your email password. Now, if you have a Google account email (GMail or Google Workplace) this is no longer the case, you simply need to enter in your Google credentials.

## Windows 10/11 built-in Ransomware Protection (Controlled Folder Access) and CryptoPrevent

Jul 23, 2021

(repost) CryptoPrevent version 21.7.23 adds a new setting for “Controlled Folder Access” which is not a CryptoPrevent protection but a newer protection provided by Windows 10 and Windows 11, so the setting will now appear in CryptoPrevent on these operating systems. We’ve determined that when configured properly, Controlled Folder Access works very well with CryptoPrevent to block unknown ransomware threats. It works by blocking all unknown applications from accessing data in protected folders on your computer.
